FAQ

Unsure if the appointee will interact with a trainee – either directly or incidentally?

The Department Chair and/or Division Chief should base appointment on direct knowledge of what the individual will be doing in the clinic and the likelihood of them interacting with trainees. Leadership can also consider the work location and likelihood of interacting with trainees.

Important distinction in these types of appointments from other UCSD faculty titles

These appointments are not the same as faculty appointed at the VA and fluctuating up to 150% total effort, between the VA and UCSD.

These appointments are not the same as a faculty member who requests a transitional one-year non-salaried appointment since they are leaving the University and need to complete obligations, e.g. grant activities, thesis committees, etc. Typically, this appointment would be an Adjunct series appointment, Without Salary (or WOS) appointment.
