Finance

Led by Robert Nelson, Senior Director of Finance, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences, the Finance Office provides support in the areas of accounting, financial reporting, billing and receivables, budgeting, financial modeling and analysis, strategic initiatives, and project management.

The Finance Office serves all of Health Sciences including the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Medicine and its departments, Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science, Moores Cancer Center, Altman Clinical & Translational Research Institute, Student Health & Well-Being and various organized research and administrative units.

Budget & Analysis

Budget & Analysis supports the annual budgeting process for UC San Diego Health Sciences, and provides services for budgeting guidance, parameters and analysis, as well as training, coordination and consolidation of budgets for the professional schools, academic departments, ORUs, programs/institutes, and administrative units.

Resource Management

Resource Management (RM) is responsible for managing financial resources at the discretion of the Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences (VCHS) and Dean for the School of Medicine in support of the academic, research, and clinical missions.

Recharge Activities

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences provides oversight for 85+ recharge activities across Health Sciences departments, and represents the largest and most active recharge portfolio across the UC San Diego Campus.

Controller

The VCHS Controller leads the VCHS financial community in the discharge of its oversight responsibilities related to Financial Accounting, Internal Control, and compliance with the laws, regulations, and university policies, including those related to integrity and ethical considerations.  VCHS Controller’s Office provides timely, independent, and objective assessments, guidelines, advisory, accounting, reporting, and financial analysis services.
