Scholars

To initiate an appointment request for a Scholar, including Postdoctoral Scholars, Visiting Scholars, Visiting Scholar Research Interns, and Visiting Graduate Students, please adhere to the following submission deadlines: 

  • Domestic Scholars: Submit at least 5 weeks prior to the intended start date. 
  • International Scholars:   
    • J-1 visa: Submit at least 3 months prior to the intended start date. 
    • H-1B visa: Submit at least 8 months prior to the intended start date.

Starting the Appointment Process

To begin the appointment process, select the appropriate request form below. Each form provides detailed instructions on the required information to proceed with the appointment:

What to Expect After Submission

  1. ARC will request necessary appointment materials from the scholar.    
  2. ARC reviews the materials and submits them to the request to the appropriate Central Office for approval. 
  3. Once approved, an official appointment letter is issued. 
  4. ARC forwards the official appointment letter to the scholar, who must confirm their acceptance. 
  5. Upon acceptance, ARC will initiate the onboarding process.

Additional Steps for International Scholars

  1. ARC collaborates with the scholar and the department to prepare the visa application. 
  2. ARC submits the visa application to the International Center for final review. 
  3. The International Center issues the appropriate visa document to the scholar. 
  4. The scholar schedules and attends their visa interview at a U.S. Embassy/Consulate. 
  5. Upon visa approval, the scholar confirms their date of arrival in the U.S., and ARC initiates onboarding.
