Moving & Relocation

This page will provide information regarding approved moving expenses for faculty, MSP physicians, and staff. UCSD generally uses the term "removals" to indicate moving relocation.

 

Moving Expenses Request for Faculty

The Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Health Sciences has approval authority for payment of allowable moving expenses for eligible academic appointees, also known as "removals".

Removal requests should be submitted via Service Now.

Removal requests are assigned to the VC Analyst based on department assignments. 

In general, faculty appointment files must be in the review process, or submitted to the Vice Chancellor Health Sciences Academic Affairs' office, in order for the Associate Vice Chancellor to approve relocation expenses. Prospective faculty appointments whose materials are in the recruitment, search, or proposal stages are not eligible for move expense reimbursement. Departments prepare a request memo using a template provided on the Academic Affairs website.

Staff Move Expense Process 

For faculty who have staff bridge appointments, if the move occurs while they are in a staff position, the request will need to be facilitated through HHR.
