
Director Susan Little, MD
Dr. Susan Little is a professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Public Health. In addition to serving as the director of the Office of Clinical Research for Health Sciences, she is director of the Antiviral Research Center (AVRC) and clinical research site leader for the AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG) site at UC San Diego. She conducts translational clinical research focused on HIV prevention, molecular epidemiology and critical contributions to SARS-CoV-2 vaccine trials. Dr. Little's current research is focused on the use of molecular epidemiologic methods to infer and characterize HIV transmission networks and the potential of prevention and treatment interventions to reduce network incidence. She also conducts trials of newer COVID-19 vaccine candidates to identify vaccines that may improve protection against severe illness, hospitalization and death.

The Health Sciences Office of Clinical Research will collaborate with clinical investigators to uphold quality, strengthen compliance, streamline process, and establish best practices in research conduct, while ensuring that all investigators have the necessary infrastructure and support for clinical research activities.
Clinical Research Units
Clinical Research Units are centralized resources designed to support clinical research activities across multiple PIs and study teams. It provides infrastructure, services, and staff expertise to facilitate clinical research, improve efficiency, and ensure compliance with standard procedures.
