Search Committee Training

UC San Diego Health Sciences is committed to advancing equity and diversity by promoting best practices for faculty recruitment. It is mandatory for each search committee recruiting for a tenure-track or tenured position to receive search committee training from a Health Sciences Faculty Equity Advisor (FEA) coordinated by the Office of Faculty Affairs.

Institutional Reference Check

UC San Diego requires all candidates for academic appointments with tenure or security of employment to complete, sign, and upload the Institutional Reference Check release form entitled “Authorization to Release Form” into RECRUIT as part of their application.

UC Intercampus

As part of the University of California system, UC San Diego must follow designated procedures when an academic appointee from another UC campus is being proposed for an academic appointment here.

Medical Board of California Special Permits

Special permits are Issued to International physicians who are not currently eligible for a Physician's and Surgeon's License in California. Practitioners must be sponsored by a medical school, hospital, or an approved fellowship training program in California. These permits authorize practitioners to practice medicine only within the sponsoring institution and its affiliates. There may be supervision requirements, limits on permitted activities, or eligibility limits based on work authorization.
